Writers should distinguish personal reflection from claims about an entire religion or religious community. Disagreement and thoughtful critique may be expressed without ridicule, deliberate insult or dehumanisation.

1. Politics and Public Affairs

Political subjects are permitted when relevant to the writer’s experience or argument. Writers may discuss:

• Political systems;
• Elections;
• Governance;
• Public policy;
• International relations;
• Social movements;
• Wars and conflicts;
• Public institutions; and
• Political experiences abroad.

Opinions should be identifiable as opinions. Meanwhile, factual allegations should be supported appropriately. Writers should avoid knowingly spreading false information or presenting speculation as confirmed fact. Script & Soul is a writing platform and should not be used primarily as a vehicle for political campaigning, propaganda or personal attacks.

2. Fairness

Perfect neutrality is rarely possible, particularly in personal writing. Therefore, Script & Soul does not require writers to have “no bias.” Instead, we ask writers to practise fairness. We do not wish to totally strip the writer’s individuality and inclination. Hence, for factual or journalistic pieces:
