1. Religion and Faith

For many Malaysians, experiences abroad may deepen, challenge or reshape their relationship with faith. Writers are welcome to discuss religion and spirituality. This may include:

• Personal faith journeys;

• Religious communities overseas;

• Experiences as a Muslim or member of another faith abroad;

• Interfaith encounters;

• Questions about religious practice;

• Cultural differences surrounding religion

• Spiritual reflections; and

• Personal lessons.

Writers should distinguish personal reflection from claims about an entire religion or religious community. Disagreement and thoughtful critique may be expressed without ridicule, deliberate insult or dehumanisation.

2. Politics and Public Affairs

Political subjects are permitted when relevant to the writer’s experience or argument. Writers may discuss:

• Political systems;

• Elections;

• Governance;

• Public policy;

• International relations;

• Social movements;

• Wars and conflicts;

• Public institutions; and

• Political experiences abroad.

Opinions should be identifiable as opinions. Meanwhile, factual allegations should be supported appropriately. Writers should avoid knowingly spreading false information or presenting speculation as confirmed fact.
